publiclands1.jpgWhile we’re on the volunteering topic, National Public Lands Day is coming up on Saturday, September 30, and projects are going on in all 50 states. So wherever you are, you can pitch in and spend the day exploring someplace new while helping take care of your parks and preserves. The link above will tell you where and how.

Last year, nearly 90,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, planted trees and plants, and removed trash and invasive plants. “One third of America’s land is yours. Consider spending 1/365 of your time preserving it,” the organizers say.
