More places to go in Cali., forever

A bill signed into law this week will preserve unique landscapes and diverse ecosystems in California’s undeveloped Northern coastal region. Wilderness protection is now extended to 275,000 acres of federal land, including a spectacular 26-mile of rugged shoreline known as the Lost Coast. The new law also gives wild and scenic protection to 21 miles of the Black Butte River.

The new areas will be open for explorers and travelers to enjoy, allowing for horseback riding, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and whitewater rafting. Roads, structures and motorized uses are all forbidden.
