Time to think ahead

Here it is December already, and time to think about travels for 2007.

Where will you be going? Around the world? To a new continent? Somewhere you’ve always wanted to go? Travel can inspire us when we’re discouraged or worn out, take us to new places spiritually as well as geographically. It can teach us things we didn’t even know we didn’t know. It can expand our worldview, challenge us, and it’s fun!

Personally I think most people should spend at least one month a year traveling, though I know it’s not always easy to do. Think of all there is out there to see! Mountains, desert, tundra, forests, oceans. Other cultures, other cities, other ways of life. “Life is either a daring adventure… or nothing,” Helen Keller said. It’s hard to disagree with that.

Most of us can discover someplace new every day, just around the corner, if we can’t get abroad. Take a hike, ride a bike, paddle a canoe, watch the sky, explore your local landscape. It’s a new year just ahead, how far you go across the wide open world is up to you.
