Hands Up Holidays Win Travelmole Responsible Tourism Award
Eco travel company Hands Up Holidays has won Travelmole’s Best Responsible Tourism Website Award, 2008. Hands Up Holidays, which combine eco-sightseeing with meaningful volunteering experiences, have skyrocketed in popularity since their inception only two years ago.
The recent revamp of the website will no doubt have had some influence on those judging. The site is easy to navigate with new functions introduced such as holiday specific categories like ‘family’ and ‘honeymoon’, making it easier for eco travellers to find what they’re looking for fast.
Founder and Managing Director, Christopher Hill, said, “Our commitment to incredible travel experiences that enrich both participants and communities has clearly paid dividends as we consolidate our position at the top of the voluntourism sector.”
An amazing 1,200 nominations were received for this year’s Travelmole awards which held at the Canadian High Commission in London.

“These volunteer adventures are for you if:
- you are interested in having a break, want to explore a destination, and also give something back to the local community
- you value meaningful interaction with other cultures – achieved through the medium of volunteering
- you value low-impact, sustainable tourism practices that directly benefit local communities
- you do not have specific skills, but have a lot of enthusiasm and a positive attitude (and if you do have specific skills, we will match these where possible).”
With every holiday on offer embracing theses ecotourism principles, it’s no wonder they won. Congratulations guys!
